Caren Shiozaki is Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer for TMST, Inc., based in Santa Fe, NM. The company is currently in Chapter 11. Due to the company’s circumstance, in addition to the usual CIO duties she is responsible for cybersecurity, risk management, and information governance. She oversees litigation support and performs forensic data analysis.
Prior to TMST, Ms. Shiozaki was Vice President and CIO for Belo Corp, one of the nation’s largest media companies with a diversified group of market-leading television, newspaper, cable and interactive media assets headquartered in Dallas, TX. At American Express, she was responsible for the “Manage My Card Account” web interface, serving over 10 million registered cardholders across the globe.
Ms. Shiozaki formed her own LLC to provide consultancy to small and medium sized organizations on technology and business strategy and risk management. She is an executive advisor for the Next Era Transformation Group, providing guidance to their clients in risk management and corporate governance. She is also a Senior Fellow with the DivIHN Center of Excellence focusing on governance, digital risk and business ethics.
She has served as an advisor to venture capital groups and served on the board of a startup technology company.
STEM education and girls’ and women’s rights are two areas of interest for Ms Shiozaki. She is Chair Emeritus of the Board for SIM, an international association of technology executives. She leads their Digital Risk Special Interest Group, and is developing their program to address issues of diversity/equity/inclusion in the technologies profession. She is Board President for the Santa Fe Alliance for Science, a consortium of STEM professionals and academics working with the Santa Fe Public Schools. She serves as technology advisor to the CEO of Girls Inc. of Santa Fe, and is the leader of their Risk Management sub-committee.
She has a degree in Genetics from the University of California at Berkeley. She holds professional certification in corporate governance, data privacy, and is also a certified e-Discovery Specialist.
